The news is that Lagos State's government is attempting to reward hardworking officials in the State Civil Service with a little something special. This is in the form of a brand new car. And it's not just the usual suspects, there are a couple of notable figures in the bag, namely Yomi Otubela, President of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools and Adamu Adeoye, the Governor of the state.

Not only are the two titles prestigious, the award ceremony also saw several high profile speakers, including President Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Chief Olabisi Onabanjo, the governor of Ogun State. It's no surprise then that the state's students walked away with the top prize, the National Junior Engineers, Technicians and Scientists (JETS) trophy in 2022. In fact, the state's JETS contingent is the most impressive in the country and should be cheered on by the entire Nigerian diaspora.

To help you pick the best from the crowd, here are five school news items to read up on today. Among other things, the Lagos State Ministry of Education announced that it had begun a transfer exercise for pupils who are about to enter the Senior Secondary School (SSS II) and JSS II. Another laudable effort from the Lagos State Government has been the construction of a comprehensive school system in twelve Senior Secondary Schools in the state. Interestingly, the school's management has taken the bold step of inviting applications from UTME and Direct Entry candidates. Considering that many prospective students have been waiting for such a move for years, the news is good ol' Nigerians.
